PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that channels unnecessary to a user are also preset by an automatic channel search method of digital broadcasting in a conventional analog/digital broadcast receiver. SOLUTION: This broadcast receiver includes: a tuner 102 for receiving digital broadcasting; a digital signal level detecting part 203 for detecting a signal level in a predetermined frequency on a predetermined channel of the received digital broadcast channels; and a control part 114 for determining that broadcasting exists on the predetermined channel when the detected signal level is equal to or more than a predetermined value.
