The present invention discloses a method and system for a local access gateway obtaining paging information of a terminal. The method includes: mobility management unit sends the paging information of a terminal used for local paging to wireless side network element; the wireless side network element sends the received paging information of the terminal to a local access gateway. The present invention can ensure that the local access gateway can implement paging optimization when the terminal is idle and receives the downlink data of local connection.
