PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thickness calculation method of an attenuation material, and a device therefor, capable of measuring properly a thickness of the attenuation material used for a composite structure. SOLUTION: The thickness calculation device of the attenuation material includes ultrasonic probes 4a, 4b for transmitting an ultrasonic wave to the composite structure 3 including a metal material 1 and the attenuation material 2, a signal operation part 7 for processing a signal from the ultrasonic probes 4a, 4b, and a thickness calculation part 8 for processing data from the signal operation part 7. The device is constituted as follows: the ultrasonic probes 4a, 4b oscillate an ultrasonic wave having a frequency at which multiple reflection from the metal material 1 is reduced, or lower; the signal operation part 7 performs wavelet analysis of a signal of a reflection echo by the ultrasonic wave, and extracting a specific frequency component, when measuring the thickness of the attenuation material 2; and the thickness calculation part 8 calculates the thickness of the attenuation material 2 based on a signal in the specific frequency component.
