PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a friction pad assembly capable of achieving a reduction in cost and an improvement in productivity by moderating the machining accuracy of parts used and reducing the number of the parts. SOLUTION: In the friction pad assembly for a disk brake, a lining assembly 13 is pressed to a disk rotor. The lining assembly 13 consists of a friction material 21 and a back plate part 22 fixed in the back surface of the friction material, and includes a plate fitting part 22a and a coming-off prevention flange part 22b in the back plate part 22, and moreover, it is inserted in a guide hole part 11a arranged in a guide plate 11 from the back surface side of the guide plate 11. In order to transfer braking torque acting on upon contact between the disk rotor and the friction material 21 to the guide plate 11 from the plate fitting part 22a, the plate fitting part 22a is freely turnably fitted in the guide hole part 11a in its outer peripheral surface.
