<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting diode provided with a light emitting chip arranged on its optical axis, improving a luminance distribution of the conventional light emitting diode, which shows rapid deterioration in luminance according to increase of an opening angle from the optical axis. <P>SOLUTION: A curved surface portion 14aA is formed in a front surface of a sealing member 14, and a cross sectional shape thereof along a horizontal plane including the optical axis Ax, is constituted of a wave shape curved line provided with a concave curve C1 near the optical axis Ax and convex curves C2 arranged on both sides thereof. In light emitted from the light emitting chip 12 in the horizontal plane including the optical axis Ax, light advancing in a direction of a small opening angle of right and left direction from the optical axis Ax reaches a portion of the concave curve C1, and emits forward as light diffusing in a direction apart from the optical axis Ax by an optical diffusion action thereof, and light advancing in a direction of a large opening angle reaches a portion of the convex curves C2 and emits forward as light deflecting to a direction of a straight line L making an opening angle θ by an optical converging action. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
