PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a floating nut superior in operability of fixing work, since an installation state of a retainer member to a support plate member can be secured and a nut member can be stopped and held in an optional position. SOLUTION: An opening part capable of longitudinally and laterally moving a cylinder part of the nut member is formed in a plane plate part of a body part of the retainer member, and a clip plate part is formed in parallel to the plane plate part in its distal end part by extending a right and left one side surface plate part of the body part in the reverse surface direction. A check tongue piece part is obliquely projected on the support plate member side in the clip plate part for abutting on a reverse surface of a support plate member of a fixing object, and the distal end of the check tongue piece part is engageably arranged on an inner wall surface of a bolt inserting hole of the support plate member. A reverse surface plate part for abutting on a reverse surface of a substrate part of a nut member is formed in a distal end part of a front-rear side surface plate parts of the body part, and a spring member is inserted between the plane plate part of the retainer member and the substrate part of the nut member.
