PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for modifying an antibody while keeping the activity of two or more specific binding sites of the antibody. SOLUTION: The modification method includes the following steps of: specifically binding a first specific binding site 6 and a second specific binding site 7 with a first protective agent 1 and a second protective agent 2, respectively, by mixing a first magnetic particle 3, a second magnetic particle 4 and an antibody 5, wherein the first magnetic particle 3 has on its surface the first protective agent 1 which specifically binds with the first specific binding site 6, and the second magnetic particle 4 has on its surface the second protective agent 2 which specifically binds with a second specific binding site 7; modifying the antibody 5 with a modifier 8; releasing the first and second protective agents 1 and 2 from the first and second specific binding sites 6 and 7, respectively, by adding a release agent; dividing the antibody 5 from the first magnetic particle 3 and the second magnetic particle 4 by using a magnet; and collecting the divided antibody 5.
