PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper sheet discharging device for executing appropriate paper sheet alignment even when the thickness or the kind of a paper sheet to be discharged is changed. SOLUTION: The paper sheet discharging device includes a paper discharge roller for discharging a paper sheet, a paper sheet stacking table for stacking the paper sheet to be discharged by the paper discharge roller, a paper sheet rear end butting part to which a rear end of the paper sheet on the paper sheet stacking table is butted, a paper sheet holding means which holds the paper sheet to be discharged by the paper discharge roller and butts the rear end of the held paper sheet to the paper sheet rear end butting part, an adjusting mechanism for adjusting the pressure of the paper sheet holding means, and a control unit for controlling the adjusting mechanism according to the thickness or the kind of the paper sheet to be discharged.
