PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for tire capable of improving dynamic strength, wear-resistance, rolling-resistance characteristic, wet-gripping performance and dry-gripping performance at a sufficient balance, and a pneumatic tire using it. SOLUTION: The rubber composition for tire includes a rubber component containing a modified diene-based rubber, and a silica component containing surface-treated silica in which the surface is treated by a silane coupling agent. In the rubber component for tire, the content of the modified diene-based rubber in 100 mass% of the rubber component is 15 mass% or higher and the dispersion ratio of the silica component is 70% or higher.
