PURPOSE: A composition containing Clematis patents extract is provided to suppress acute and chronic inflammation and to manufacture a therapeutic agent for arthritis and inflammatory diseases. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating inflammatory diseases contains Clematis patents extract as an active ingredient. The Clematis patents extract contains 0.5-3.0 weight% of ascorbic acid. The Clematis patents extract is isolated using water, alcohol, or alcohol solution. A method for preparing the Clematis patents extract comprises: a step of extracting Clematis patents and cooling and filtering the Clematis patents extract; a step of isolating remaining liquid with an alcohol solution and compressing at 50-90 degrees Celsius; and a step of adding alcohol and centrifuging at 700-1,200 rpm.
