The length of the process from capturing an image by means of an optical reading unit to discharging the medium is shortened, and throughput improved. A media transportation mechanism 100 conveys a medium to be scanned. An optical reader 110 disposed to the medium transportation path P optically reads the conveyed medium. A storage unit stores the captured image. A transmission unit reads and transmits the captured image stored in the storage unit to another device. A discharge control unit discharges the medium while the captured image is being transmitted to the other device after the optical reader 110 finishes scanning the medium. |
