METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR SUPPORTING DISCONTINUOUS RECEPTION OPERATION IN MOBILE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

PURPOSE: A method and apparatus for supporting a discontinuous reception operation in a mobile communication system are provided to offer a long SFN(System Frame Number) implementation method in order to extending DRX(Discontinuous Reception) period of a mechanical communication device. CONSTITUTION: A method for supporting a DRX operation in Node B in a mobile communication system comprises steps of: defining a second SFN where one cycle of a first SFN corresponds to one bit, and transmitting information on the second SFN to a UE(User Equipment); determining a second SFN which is used to transmit a paging signal to the UE, and determining a first SFN which is used to transmit the paging signal in the determined second SFN; and transmitting the paging signal to the UE at the determined first SFN.
