PURPOSE: Apparatus and method for measuring temperature of a casting slab are provided to remove interference due to residual water and cooling water from a spray nozzle and ensure reliability of measuring data. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for measuring temperature of a casting slab comprises a pyrometer unit, an opening/closing valve and a controller. The pyrometer unit is transferred on a frame and measures the temperature of a casting slab. The opening/closing valve(205) is mounted on a spray nozzle spraying cooling water to the casting slab. The controller(206) controls to transfers the pyrometer unit and measure the temperature of the casting slab.
