PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display is provided to improve image quality by synchronizing a time of supplying a light with a time of transmitting a gate signal. CONSTITUTION: In a liquid crystal display, a plurality of pixels display an image according to a data signal in response to a gate signal. A liquid crystal panel assembly includes a plurality gate lines and data lines which are connected to the pixel respectively. A gate driving unit(210) generates an optical light scan signal synchronized to a gate signal and transmits it to a back light unit. The back light unit shields light from the pixels.
