PURPOSE: An apparatus for detecting an x-ray and a method of operating the same is provided to increase quantum detection efficiency by controlling feedback capacitance according to the permeability of a subject. CONSTITUTION: In an apparatus for detecting an x-ray and a method of operating the same, an X-ray receiving panel includes a scan lines, data lines and a plurality of optical detection pixels(5) which are connected to the scan lines and the data lines. A scan driver is connected to the plural scan lines and applies a scan signal to control the data signal of the plural optical detection pixel. A data detection unit is connected to the plural data lines, and it receives the data signal from the optical detection pixels and determines them to control capacitance according to the permeability of a subject.
