PURPOSE: An automatic focusing method of a digital camera and apparatus thereof are provided to implement auto focusing in order to improve an algorithm. CONSTITUTION: An edge value is moved to an image sensor direction and is extracted according to a target position(610). The maximum value of an expectation function is calculated based on the extracted edge value(620). The maximum value of the function is calculated in a current location of a focus lens(630). A focus lens is moved to the maximum value location of the function(660).
