FIELD: metallurgy. ^ SUBSTANCE: procedure for production of multi-layer coating for cutting tool consists in vacuum-plasma application of three-layer coating. Carbonitride of titanium and aluminium is applied as a lower layer at pressure of acetylene in the chamber of the installation 7.510-4 Pa and temperature 600C. The same carbonitride alloyed with silicon is applied as an intermediate layer at pressure of acetylene in the chamber of the installation 7.510-4 Pa and temperature 550C.
