PURPOSE: A light emitting diode with electrode pads is provided to be divided into a plurality of light emitting areas, thereby evenly distributing currents onto the light emitting areas. CONSTITUTION: A first conductive semiconductor layer(23) is located on a substrate(21). A second conductive semiconductor layer(27) is located on the first conductive semiconductor layer. An active layer(25) is located between the first conductive semiconductor layer and the second conductive semiconductor layer. A first electrode pad is electrically connected to the first conductive semiconductor layer. An insulating layer(31) is placed between a second electrode pad and the first conductive semiconductor layer.
