A shaft seal comprises an inner seal (6) at the shaft (2) comprising at least one ring (7,9,11) and a radial external seal at a roller body (1) comprising at least one ring (14,15,16) parallel to an inner ring. There is a projection (17,18,19) from at least one ring that contacts a ring of the other sealing element and wears at the beginning of rotation to produce a small ring gap between the projection and the other ring.
