Provided is an active matrix substrate which comprises a plurality of gate wirings (11) arranged on the substrate, a plurality of source wirings (12) which are arranged in a direction perpendicular to the plurality of gate wirings (11), a gate side short-circuit ring (13) which is arranged on the peripheral area of the substrate and by which the plurality of gate wirings (11) are short-circuited, a source side short-circuit ring (14) which is arranged on the peripheral area of the substrate and by which the plurality of source wirings (12) are short-circuited, gate wiring side TFTs (15) having drains connected to one of the plurality of gate wirings (11) and sources connected to the gate side short-circuit ring (13), and source wiring side TFTs (16) having drains connected to one of the plurality of source wirings (12) and sources connected to the source side short-circuit ring (14). All the gate wiring side TFTs (15) and all the source wiring side TFTs (16) are of a depletion-mode type and gate electrodes of all the source wiring side TFTs (16) are connected to the gate side short-circuit ring (13).
