<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting whether a computer file (a computer file having an i-node number) has been copied. <P>SOLUTION: The i-node number of the computer file is retrieved. A stored i-node number is read, the stored i-node number being the i-node number of a file system from which the computer file should not be copied. The retrieved i-node number and the read i-node number are compared and it is determined that the computer file has been copied if the retrieved i-node number does not match the read i-node number.
