<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a universal joint and a shaft coupling structure in which a tightening force between a shaft and a yoke is strong, an assembling work is easy, an axial position of the shaft is held at a given position in relation to the yoke until work for coupling the shaft to the yoke by means of a tightening bolt is completed, and the shaft is prevented from getting away from the yoke. <P>SOLUTION: The shaft 6 is inserted into a female serration 531 formed in a coupling cylindrical portion 53 of the yoke 51 from the right side of the female serration. Then, the engaging protrusion 712 of the shaft 6 abuts against an inner periphery of the female serration 531 to elastically deform towards the center of the shaft 6. The shaft 6 is inserted further to the left side of the female serration 531 and when the right end 713 of the engaging protrusion 712 of the shaft 6 passes a right side inner wall 811 of an engaging depression 81 of the yoke 51, the right end 713 of the engaging protrusion 712 enters the engaging depression 81, so that the shaft 6 is held at a given axial assembling position in relation to the yoke 51. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
