<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoelectric conversion device and a solid-state image pickup device having improved photoelectric conversion efficiency and high-speed responsiveness. <P>SOLUTION: The photoelectric conversion device includes a conductive film, a photoelectric conversion film, and a transparent conductive film. The photoelectric conversion film contains fullerene or a fullerene derivative and a photoelectric conversion material having an absorption spectrum satisfies at least one of the following conditions (A) and (B), namely (A): λ<SB>M1</SB><λ<SB>L1</SB>and λ<SB>M2</SB><λ<SB>L2</SB>and (B): λ<SB>M1</SB><λ<SB>L1</SB>and Δ¾λ<SB>M1</SB>-λ<SB>L1</SB>¾>Δ¾λ<SB>M2</SB>-λ<SB>L2</SB>¾. In (A) and (B), λ<SB>L1</SB>, λ<SB>L2</SB>, λ<SB>M1</SB>, and λ<SB>M2</SB>are wavelengths indicating absorption intensity of 1/2 the maximum absorption intensity in a wavelength range from 400 to 800 nm, λ<SB>L1</SB>and λ<SB>L2</SB>indicate a wavelength in a chloroform solution spectrum where the photoelectric conversion material is dissolved to chloroform, and λ<SB>M1</SB>and λ<SB>M2</SB>indicate a wavelength in a thin-film absorption spectrum of the photoelectric conversion material alone under conditions of λ<SB>L1</SB><λ<SB>L2</SB>and λ<SB>M1</SB><λ<SB>M2</SB>. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
