<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gamma-ray detector, and the like, having an improved timing resolution than the conventional types, by generating timing corrections with respect to an identified interaction location. <P>SOLUTION: The gamma-ray detector includes at least one crystal element for emitting scintillation light, based on a scintillation event generated in response to arrival of a gamma-ray; a plurality of photosensors, arranged over at least the one crystal element for detecting the scintillation light; a means for sampling a plurality of waveforms, based on the scintillation light detected using a plurality of samplers; a means for identifying the location of the scintillation event within the at least one crystal element; a means for determining a correction timing for each of the waveforms based on the identified location of the scintillation event; a means for correcting each of the waveforms using the corresponding correction timing; and a means for estimating a time of arrival of the gamma-ray at the at least one crystal element based on the corrected waveforms. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
