<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for cooling a tub region of a double-flow steam turbine. <P>SOLUTION: A cooling path is defined through the double-flow steam turbine. The steam turbine includes a generator end (12), a turbine end (14), and a double-flow tub diaphragm (18) disposed axially between the generator end and the turbine end. A first stage of the steam turbine includes a plurality of first stage nozzles (50) and a plurality of first stage buckets (52), and a steam path is defined from an inlet region (24), through the turbine end, and to a steam outlet. The cooling path includes a plurality of cooling holes (54) of the tub diaphragm, and a plurality of root radial seals (58). Steam is sent from beneath the tub diaphragm to a periphery of the first stage nozzles, and back into the steam path before the first stage buckets. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
