PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleansing composition which easily spreads, enables excellent washing away, and has swift, large-quantity and high-density foaming (not flowing on the face). SOLUTION: The cosmetic cleansing composition includes: (1) at least one foaming anionic or amphoteric surfactant; and (2) at least one compound derived from jasmonic acid selected from among those corresponding to the following formula (I) (in which R<SB>1</SB>is a COOR<SB>3</SB>group; R<SB>3</SB>is a hydrogen atom or a 1-4C alkyl group optionally substituted by one or more hydroxy groups; and R<SB>2</SB>is a hydrocarbon group which is saturated or unsaturated, is linear and also has from 1 to 18 carbon atoms, or is branched or cyclic and has from 3 to 18 carbon atoms), optical isomers thereof, and corresponding salts.
