<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanical pencil which makes writing performed by protruding a lead from the leading end of a barrel, and which enables the writing tip of the lead to be turned without the need for the re-grip of the barrel. <P>SOLUTION: A mechanical pencil includes a mechanical pencil body 1 making the writing performed by protruding the lead 6 from the leading end of the barrel 3, and a tubular holding barrel 2 held in the writing are formed. The mechanical pencil body 1 is inserted in a longitudinally movable manner into the holding barrel 2. A mechanism for turning the mechanical pencil body in the forward/backward movement of the mechanical pencil is provided between the holding barrel 2 and the mechanical pencil body 1. The mechanism includes front and rear gears 24 and 23 which are provided in the holding barrel 2, and anterior and posterior fixed gears 19 and 16 which are provided on the outer periphery of the mechanical pencil body 1 in such a manner as to be meshed with the front and rear gears 24 and 23, respectively. Phases of teeth of the front gear and anterior fixed gear, and those of teeth of the rear gear and the posterior fixed gear are provided in a displaced manner. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
