PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electron density estimation device capable of estimating ionospheric electron density distribution in the 3-dimensional height direction and horizontal direction more accurately, enabling estimation for a space which cannot be observed by a satellite. SOLUTION: The electron density estimation device utilizing a positioning system which has one or more receivers receiving a satellite signal transmitted from a plurality of positioning satellites and which acquires position information using positioning information contained in the satellite signal includes: a total electron number calculation section for calculating a total electron number of a passage route of the satellite signal based on a pseudo-distance and a carrier phase pseudo-distance from each of the one or more receivers to each of the plurality of positioning satellites; a 3-dimensional electron density estimation space setting section 36 for setting a 3-dimensional space for estimating electron density and dividing the 3-dimensional space into a plurality of regions; a provisional electron density estimation section 38 for estimating electron density of each of the regions divided by the 3-dimensional electron density estimation space setting section 36 based on the total electron number calculated by the total electron number calculation section; and a 3-dimensional electron density estimation section 39 for extracting electron density of the same height based on the estimated electron density, and estimating electron density distribution at each height by approximation using spherical surface harmonics.
