PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power-assisted bicycle of a center motor system having an internal change gear, allowing regenerative charging without complicating the device. SOLUTION: The hub 1 of a drive wheel includes a shift mechanism 3 comprising a planetary gear mechanism, a one-way clutch 2 for reverse input, and a clutch selector device 9. The shift mechanism 3 comprises a sun gear 3a, and transmits a driving force to a drive wheel through a sprocket 4. The shift mechanism 3 further includes a shift control mechanism 10 for shifting the sun gear 3a to be rotatable or unrotatable around an axle 5 in response to the driving force to carry out shifting. The one-way clutch 2 for reverse input includes a one-way clutch claw 2a for reverse input installed on the sun gear 3a side and a clutch cam surface 2g for reverse input installed on the axle 5 side. The sun gear is switched to be rotatable or nonrotatable around the axle 5 in response to a reverse input by the clutch selector device 9. The clutch selector device 9 is switched in connection with the operation of a braking lever. The one-way clutch 2 for reverse input is switched not to be rotated before a brake becomes effective.
