PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a leaf spring type suspension device for a vehicle which uses a slide mechanism to allow self-running even when the leaf spring is damaged. SOLUTION: A locking member is installed in the slide mechanism. An engagement portion to be engaged with the locking member is formed in a rear part of the leaf spring. The engagement portion is installed to contact with the locking member and lock the back-and-forth movement of an axle member when the leaf spring is moved back and forth with respect to a frame. Further, the engagement portion is formed so that the angular change of the axle member with respect to the frame becomes a predetermined value or less even when the front and rear of the engagement portion contact with the locking member. Thus, even when the front half of the leaf spring is damaged, the self-running of the vehicle is ensured by the support of the leaf spring owing to the slide mechanism installed in the rear part of the leaf spring.
