The method involves impregnating solid wood with a two-component solution consisting furfuryl alcohol and anhydrides of carbonic acids. The solid wood is introduced at increased temperature of compression or shaping. The solid wood is held and dried under pressure. A dimension-stable form adjustment takes place by temperature-induced acid-catalytic polymerization of the two-component solution.
