摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device for achieving a lower profile, lower cost and higher power saving performance by improving the efficiency of light utilization of a surface light source device. <P>SOLUTION: The surface light source apparatus is provided with a light guide plate (3) that serves as a plane of incidence (3a) in which light enters a portion of the surface of a side edge thereof, and a light source (2) that has a plurality of point light sources 2a that emit light toward the plane of incidence (3a). Reflecting members (4, 5), which have reflecting surfaces (4a, 5a) that guide the light emitted from the light source (2) toward the plane of incidence (3a), are provided in a manner so as to control the spread of the light in the direction of thickness of the light guide plate (3) (the Z-direction), wherein the half-value angle &theta;of each of the point light sources 2a constituting the light source 2 in the thickness direction of the light guide plate 3 is set to be &le;35&deg;. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
