PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve optimum allotment of an arithmetic part in accordance with individual PDL data being an object to be printed when generating printing data from the PDL data by using a plurality of arithmetic parts.

SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a reception part that receives the PDL data; an image processing part that has a plurality of arithmetic parts, and generates the printing data based on the PDL data by making the plurality of arithmetic parts respectively perform language analysis processing of the PDL data or rasterizing processing after the language analysis processing; a controller that calculates a weight value of the rasterizing processing based on the PDL data, and dynamically sets the number of arithmetic parts to be allotted to each of the language analysis processing and the rasterizing processing in accordance with the calculated weight value; and a printing part that forms an image on a printing medium based on the generated printing data.
