PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress effect of manufacturing error on tracking control when moving three or more lens units in the direction of an optical axis using independent actuators. SOLUTION: The optical instrument includes a plurality of actuators 201, 301, and 34 for moving lens units L2 to L4; and a memory 43 storing data about the positional relationship between a plurality of lens units corresponding to object distance and focal distance, which are data for an optical system to maintain the focusing state when zooming undergoes. A controller 37 is configured such that two or more lens unit other than the first lens unit that has a positional sensitivity degree of 1.0 or greater at a zoom end, which is one of a tele-end and wide end, are moved to a position in design corresponding to the zoom end, the first lens unit is moved to a focusing position where the optical system is focused, and the data is corrected so that the position of the first lens unit after the movement and the focusing position of the first lens unit corresponding to the zoom end in the data coincide.
