PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain information on the distance between the distal end of an endoscope insertion part and an observed part by a simple structure while imaging in an endoscope apparatus including the endoscope insertion part for irradiating the observed part with irradiation light. SOLUTION: The image M of a mark in a treatment instrument set in the vicinity of the observed part is imaged, and the information on the distance between the endoscope insertion part and the observed part is obtained based on the size of the imaged mark image.
