The retractor has a tubular shaft (1) provided with a rigid portion (3), and a distal bendable region (4) attached to a distal end of the rigid portion. The rigid portion and the bendable region pass through bendable and pressure resistant bars (7, 9). The bars are length-adjustable and supported at the tubular shaft in a circumferential direction. The bendable region is bendable with displacement of the bars over more than 250 degree. A fixing device i.e. actuatable fixing finger, makes a releasable connection with the tubular shaft and/or with the bendable region.
