PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charger capable of surely achieving support by a support member when the support member supporting a cleaning member reciprocates. SOLUTION: The charger includes: a discharge wire extending in a predetermined direction; a grid electrode opposite to the discharge wire; a frame supporting the discharge wire and the grid electrode; and a cleaning means for the grid electrode. The cleaning means includes: the cleaning member (film 230); a support member 210 having a first engagement surface 215 directed to one side in the extending direction for supporting the cleaning member and capable of reciprocating in the extending direction; and a clamping member (plate-like sponge 240) for clamping the cleaning member in a space up to the first engagement surface 215 of the support member 210. The support member has an opening 218 communicating with a face directed from the first engagement surface toward the other side, and a second engagement surface 219 located at the other side from the first engagement surface with which a part (engagement part 233) of the cleaning member passed through the opening is engaged.
