The mattress (16) has an outer enclosure (31) enclosing an elongated pad base (18) in a transverse direction. A control unit of the pad base and an inner side of the outer enclosure comprise a slidable coating. Corner stabilizing elements (24, 26) extending in the transverse direction are arranged at the opposite ends of the pad base. The outer enclosure and/or an intermediate casing (22) are formed from a polyamide artificial fiber fabric with a silicone coating, where the fiber fabric comprises different web structures. An independent claim is also included for a patient transferring/supporting device comprising a movable frame and a mattress.
