The medium has 0.1 to 2.5 percent-temperature stable anti-oxidants e.g. phosphate stabilizer or secondary and/or primary steric-inhibited phenolic anti-oxidants e.g. Stearyl beta-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propionate and Triethylene glycol bis(3-tert-butyl-4-hydroxy-5-methylphenyl)propionate, as additive. The additive is introduced to wood products during heat treatment of the wood products with oil e.g. linseed oil or rape oil, wax and/or synthetic paraffin. The medium is treated with temperature of 170 Celsius to 260 Celsius over a predetermined time duration. An independent claim is also included for a wood preservation method for heat treatment of wood products.
