<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To give a 3D appearance when generating three-dimensional images based on two-dimensional images. <P>SOLUTION: A depth setting portion 220 sets a depth D(x<SB>p</SB>, y<SB>p</SB>) according to depth information d(x<SB>p</SB>, y<SB>p</SB>) and a depth enhancement level α or a depth offset β, and a viewing distance setting portion 230 sets a viewing distance L between a screen and both eyes. An object area recognition portion 270 recognizes an object area based on a two-dimensional image P(x<SB>p</SB>, y<SB>p</SB>) or the depth information d(x<SB>p</SB>, y<SB>p</SB>) to calculate the center coordinates C. A left-eye coordinate calculator 241 and a right-eye coordinate calculator 242 calculate the coordinates of left- and right-eye images so that a stereoscopic image magnified around the center coordinates C of the object is formed at the depth D(x<SB>p</SB>, y<SB>p</SB>) according to a magnification ratio S specified by a magnification ratio specifying portion 261.
