PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tuning-fork type flexural crystal oscillation element which has a reduced CI (Crystal Impedance) value and has superior oscillation characteristics. SOLUTION: In the tuning-fork type flexural crystal oscillation element, a groove extending from a boundary section of a basal portion toward an end of an oscillating arm is provided on both principal planes of the oscillating arm so as to confront each other between both principal planes of the oscillating arm, the groove includes small grooves and partitions, the partition partitions the groove into a plurality of small grooves in a length direction, the length dimension of the small groove is a dimension two times the thickness dimension of a crystal piece or below, the partition provided in a groove on one principal plane of the oscillating arm is provided at a position corresponding to a sharp end of a V-shaped bottom of a small groove in the opposite groove provided on the other principal plane, and the partition provided in the groove on the other principal plane of the oscillating arm is provided at a position corresponding to a sharp end of a V-shaped bottom of a small groove in the opposite groove provided in the one principal plane.
