PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus with a power control method whereby "asymmetrical control inhibition" is satisfied while wasteful consumption of power is reduced, compared with a conventional power control method. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is characterized as described below. When a heater-off request arises within one control unit, a fresh power supply pattern 901 of a period shorter than the one control unit is created using a power supply deviation recorded in a recording means, so as to eliminate power supply deviations of a positive half-wave and negative half-wave. Even in course of one control unit, the supply of power to a heating means is controlled following the fresh power supply pattern.
