PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily change the mounting position of a bicycle gear shift operating device, and to prevent easy movement of the device after mounting. SOLUTION: A rear gear shift operating unit 16 is configured to be mounted to a handlebar 4. The rear gear shift operating unit 16 includes a winding lever 28 and an unwinding lever 29, a support member 30, and a mounting member 32. A supporting member 30 supports the winding lever 28 and the unwinding lever 29. The mounting member 32 has a mounting portion 40 to be attached to the handlebar 4, and a fastening portion 42 which is offset in the axial direction of the handlebar 4 from the middle portion of the length in the axial direction of the handlebar 4 of the mounting portion 40 to fasten the support member 30. The mounting member 32 selectively fastens the support member 30 in either a first posture in which the fastening portion 42 is offset in a first axial direction of the handlebar 4 from the middle portion or a second posture in which the fastening portion 42 is offset in a second axial direction opposite the first axial direction.
