PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce communication time with the opposite side device without performing communication for control setting change accompanying a change in an original size when the capability of the opposite side device can correspond to original sizes when transmitting the original in which a plurality of kinds of original sizes coexist. SOLUTION: When a paper size recordable by the opposite side device is equal to or larger than the largest original size of the read original when the original having the plurality of kinds of original sizes is read, a plurality of pieces of small image data of image sizes corresponding to original sizes smaller than the largest size among the plurality of pieces of original image data are combined in accordance with the largest size to generate combined image data, uncombined image data among the image data is transmitted to the opposite side device in the largest size, and the combined image data is transmitted to the opposite side device.
