PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently perform recalculation of a circular shift-type checksum while increasing the speed of seeking operation when a nonvolatile memory of an information recording device is managed by means of a FAT (File Allocation Table)-type file system, and the reliability of directory entries is enhanced using the circular shift-type checksum.

SOLUTION: The nonvolatile memory 25 of the information recording device 2 is managed by means of the FAT-type file system and a plurality of directory entries is assigned to one file. The reliability of the plurality of directory entries is enhanced using the circular shift-type checksum, and information indicating the position and size of an area for storing file data is managed using an extent information entry 203. Moreover, an updated information entry 204 and a dummy entry 205 are used.
