PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pressure-sensitive adhesive composition excellent in both light leakage resistance and durability when applied to an optical member such as a polarizing plate, a method for producing the pressure-sensitive adhesive composition, a pressure-sensitive adhesive and a pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet. SOLUTION: The pressure-sensitive adhesive composition includes a first (meth)acrylic ester copolymer (A) having a weight average molecular weight of 700,000-2,500,000, a second (meth)acrylic ester copolymer (B) having a weight average molecular weight of 8,000-250,000, and a crosslinking agent (C), wherein a proportion of the second (meth)acrylic ester copolymer (B) to 100 pts.mass of the first (meth)acrylic ester copolymer (A) is 5-50 pts.mass.
