METHOD OF LIFTING A WIND TURBINE COMPONENT TOWARD A TOP PORTION OF A WIND TURBINE TOWER

A method of lifting a wind turbine component toward a top portion of a wind turbine tower involves securing a lifting device to the top portion of the tower and positioning a crane and the wind turbine component next to the tower. A lifting cable is arranged to cradle the component between the crane and the lifting device. The crane is then operated to raise the component toward to the top of the tower.
