PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carriage type heating furnace capable of reducing frequency of scale removal work by a worker and improving productivity. SOLUTION: The carriage type heating furnace 30 includes: a furnace body 11 having an openable/closable opening 11a formed on the front face and applying heating treatment to a metal product M by closing the opening 11a by a lid body 12; a carriage 1 mounted with the metal product M on the top face and traveling on a hearth 13 of the furnace body 11 forwards/backwards for carrying-in/out from the opening 11a to inside of the furnace body 11; and a seal device 10 which seals a clearance G formed between the inner peripheral face of a sidewall 11b of the furnace body 11 and a side face 1a of the carriage 1 by pressing the lower part on the side face 1a of the carriage 1 from the lower side and is provided on the side face of the furnace body 11. Brushes 32 in which a plurality of wires 31 are implanted downwardly are provided in right and left lower parts of a rear part 1b of the carriage 1, respectively, and partitions 33 extended forwardly/backwardly are erected on the hearth 13 on right and left inner sides from the brushes 32.
