BINDING DOMAIN IN NOTCH AND DELTA PROTEINS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide gene sequences and amino acid sequences of Notch and Delta proteins which are supposed to be essential in a differentiation and development process.

SOLUTION: There are provided: nucleotide sequences of the human Notch and Delta genes; and amino acid sequences of their encoded proteins; fragments thereof which contains an antigenic determinant or are functionally active; fragments (adhesive fragments) of the proteins (toporythmic proteins) encoded by toporythmic genes (Notch, Delta, and Serrate genes family) which mediate homotypic or heterotypic binding to toporythmic proteins; and sequences thereof.
