<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing device that stably conveys and holds a developer. <P>SOLUTION: The developing device includes: a stirring and conveying part storing the developer including carrier and toner, and including a stirring and conveying member for stirring and mixing the developer and conveying it in a predetermined conveying direction; and a developer carrier provided to face an electrostatic latent image carrier for carrying an electrostatic latent image, carrying the developer stirred and conveyed by the stirring and conveying part on its circumferential surface, and supplying the developer to the electrostatic latent image carrier. A plurality of a nearly V-shaped grooves extending in an axial direction are formed on the outer circumferential surface of the developer carrier.
